There is the story of the robbery of a bank in Waterford, in which the thieves stole $443,000 (in 1871 - $40,000,000 today). It was called the most horrendous crime in the annals of the county. The other story is that of the murder of a one-armed man in Albany. No one knew the man and he was buried before he was identified. The lawyers involved in these cases earned recognition as some of the most outstanding trial lawyers of their day. |
