Victorian Rules
Crimes In Time Journal Vol. II Victorian Rules is a collection of six Victorian true crimes where the person responsible was not convicted. What do President John Adams great-grandson Johnson Lynch, former Saratoga police officer John McDermott and John Pair, a simple barber, all have in common? They were shot. What do a highly successful businessman from Batavia, a fire chief, and a disgruntled brother-in-law all have in common? They pulled the trigger. Add to these stories the case of a doctor in Saratoga who smuggled the body of a patient down the stairs so that other boarders would not find out about the death and the case of a man who used five different names and you have great reading. |

| Excerpt Minutes after it left the house the cutter arrived at the southeast corner of Green Ridge Cemetery. The section they were in was along the fence in the extreme back, in an area of the cemetery reserved for those who could not afford a burial plot. It was know as potters field. There they found an open grave dug exactly where it had been contracted. Beside the grave was a plain hemlock box with the lid open. They had expected a pine casket but by this time and under the circumstances they had to accept the cheap substitute. The men were, after all, hardly in a position to ask for their money back or demand the casket that they had paid for. Dr. Hollis Palmer This is the fourth book by Hollis Palmer. In this collection he has come into his own as a storyteller. Somehow able to find the bizarre, twisted and formerly uncovered crimes, Hollis has made his mark by discovering crimes that were lost to history and reminding us of the impact they had on their communities.
